It's June... yay :)
6 years ago today we arrived in Dubuque after the long drive from Lubbock to Dubuque. I have now lived here for 6 years. This is my 7th year here. Hmmm. Maybe I'll be lucky and it'll be a very good year.
Thinking back on this last week... a lot has happened.
On the 27th, it marked the 6 year anneverary of putting our old faithful labrador down. Samba. She was almost 16, had bad arthritis, was nearly blind and almost completely deaf. If the move didn't kill her, the humid summers or the bitter winters would have. So we did what we thought was best for her. It was a very sad day.
Then the next day 6 years ago marked Oliver's 1st birthday. Then the next day, we left. Everything was packed up, the house was empty, cars were loaded. I had spent the night at my best friend Stephanie's house. Man I miss her. I remember riding in my dad's truck, just him and me, and she rode right along with us on her Razor Scooter (remember how popular those were just a few years ago?), and we were waving good bye to eachother, until we turned off the street and towards the highway and empty desert that is northern Texas and Oklahoma. :\
I also miss the MPS (Melonie Park South) Swimming Pool. I loved that place. Went there every day in the summer. Except for Sundays and Mondays. Sundays for obvious reasons, and Mondays because it was closed (except for Memorial Day when it opened and Labor Day when it closed). Awesome place. Not that great of a pool, but we knew everybody there, and everybody knew us. I would be working there right this very moment if we still lived there. I had it booked to be a life guard there. I was one of the fastest on their summer swim team, and I just loved the place.
*sigh*
But I love it here too much to want to go back. :)
