Went to the Doctor

I went to the doctor today about these headaches that I've been having (see previous post). We got a few xrays of my head and the results ruled out any sinus problems. They're completely fine. So I'm being put on a medicine called Propranolol. The definition I got was complicated, and I understand it, but in simpler terms, propranolol slows down betas (sp?) which make things go faster in your body, like your heart rate and your anxiety and blood pressure and sensory travel and stuff. Just makes things go fast. Most people who take it are people who have had a heart attack and need their heart to not work so hard. That's the most common reason to take it. I believe my own grandpa takes it. Anyway, the reason I take it is not a reason it is originally intended for, so it takes some weaving around to do with insurance companies. But I have an amazing doctor who is just brilliant, and it won't be a problem. The medicine seems to reduce whatever it is that causes pain in my head (we have no clue what exactly is causing it, be it pressure build up or muscle contraction or whatever), resulting in pain and fatigue. It worked pretty well last year and the year before, so hopefully it will work again this year. In the mean time, I've got to take it easy. The first time I had this, it got out of control and I had to stay in the hospital. I don't really want to do the overnighter again (I hate sleeping in hospital beds and their food is gross).

I have my last day of work at the Humane Society tomorrow. I haven't been able to go because of this debilitating headache, and even though it's been getting worse within the last 24 hours, I'm going to go in tomorrow and do as much as I can, hopefully stay the whole shift. I may not be able to make the whole shift though if my head keeps progressing in pain. What with dogs barking and music playing - I wouldn't be able to stand it. And it would wipe me out and I have so many things tomorrow that I HAVE to do, I can't be wiped out, just not tomorrow. So I'll do whatever I need to do. Hopefully nothing. But I'll be smart.
